Weapons System Development

The JAAW™ Group uses proven methodology that delivers weapons systems to the field 30% ahead of traditional defense program baselines. We have completed programs with the USAF for range of the future, GBSD, and test lab development. Additionally, The JAAW™ Group has upgraded mobile radio and communication systems for the Texas Army National Guard for training ranges. Our wide range of weapon development projects and scope, using The JAAW™ Group’s systematic approach delivers under budget and ahead of schedule.

For the Range of the Future, our team converted telemetry tracking and range safety systems from analog to digital. We then fielded digital telemetry tracking solutions at the Eastern and Western Ranges for operational test launch with success and ahead of schedule. Additionally, The JAAW™ Group supports the telemetry tracking and post mission data processing for operational test launching of ICBM and SLBM missiles.

The JAAW™ Group continues to work on the Eastern and Western Ranges for Space and Missile Command, the Range of the Future, and alongside the Army Texas National Guard.

System Certification

The JAAW™ Group provides end-to-end support of the certification and validation activities required to meet regulatory requirements. This includes supporting programs through each step of the Risk Management Framework (RMF) process along with deriving actionable and measurable requirements from the NIST Special Publication (SP) 800-53r4 “Security and Privacy Controls for Federal Information Systems and Organizations” and DoDI 8510.01 “Risk Management Framework (RMF) for DoD Information Technology (IT)” which the program can understand and implement. Capabilities also include the identification, tracking and mitigation of known and emerging risks.

The JAAW™ Group has extensive experience with the “cradle to grave” support of new and developing systems which require sub-component certification, integration of system certifications into system level certification and the maintenance of certifications throughout a system’s sustainment lifecycle.

The JAAW™ Group’s experience includes:

  • Authority to Operate (ATO) approval for Command and Control (C2) systems
  • Battle management operations
  • Aircraft communications
  • Range of the future cyber structure
  • Red Team/Blue Team penetration testing
  • NSCCA/NSATE and Independent Verification and Validation (IV&V) certification experience for Nuclear Weapon Systems, including the GBSD

Systems Integration

The JAAW™ Group staffs proven engineers with experience in multiple engineering fields, allowing us to design systems integration into projects “upfront”. By identifying customer needs, defining requirements, controlling interfaces, and identifying and cooperating with key-stakeholders, The JAAW™ Group helps customers perform systems integration on projects of any scale.

The JAAW™ Group’s process of bringing multiple subsystems into alignment has been successfully used to build teams and organizations from the ground up, rescue troubled programs, and successfully navigate products through requirement-heavy testing for government customers.

Logistics

As part of requirements development The JAAW™ Group defines operations availability, mean time between failure, and mean time to repair metrics to evaluate system design against the ability to meet or exceed those baselines. We conduct provisioning to ensure weapons systems supportability and procurement of essential assemblies and parts to meet program metrics. We catalogue all required parts and special tooling into technical orders and work instructions to enable DoD maintenance and logistics professionals to easily order and procure parts.

The JAAW™ Group continues to support new range systems, providing supportability and operational ability to meet new requirements for the range of the future.

Software Engineering

The JAAW™ Group integrates commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) products with custom developed code and scripts to streamline the processing of toolchains and pipelines. Capabilities include: continuous integration and delivery, production build, and automated testing for static analysis, dynamic analysis, qualification testing, and software certification. The JAAW™ Group is currently supporting the government to stand up automated IV&V processing of software as part of GBSD. This effort includes validation of source code with static analysis, a build pipeline to produce executables, comparison of binaries with reference copies, and validation of executables with dynamic analysis while qualification testing is ongoing.

Additionally, The JAAW™ Group performs re-hosting of legacy software, including Ada and Fortran, to updated languages, such as C# and C++, while applying tech refresh to the hardware platforms.

Test Engineering

The JAAW™ Group’s team of experienced test engineers have a proven track record for navigating programs through potentially costly and time-consuming testing. Our team members are veterans of testing in numerous environments from developmental testing in a lab to operational testing in the field, to test centers across the country including Vandenberg Air Force Base, White Sands Missile Range, Little Mountain Test Facility, Arnold Engineering Development Complex, Air Force Depots, and contractor facilities. The JAAW™ Group has the necessary skills to develop test documentation, navigate the testing process, and resolve anomalies and discrepancies.

The JAAW™ Group team has a proven track record as part of test programs for Ares 1-X, the Space Shuttle, automated test equipment, nuclear and non-nuclear software, nuclear critical hardware, rocket engine hardware, aircraft hardware and software. Additionally, conduction testing that complies with industry and military standards (AFI 99-103, AFGSCI 99-102, MILSTD 410, 461, etc), bringing test programs through TMRR and EMD to the field, and interfacing with stakeholders and testers enables The JAAW™ Group team to deliver testing results on time- on target.
